Islands Society Seeks Mentors for 2016 Pacific Next Generation Artists Program

Leading non-profit seeks experienced artists and professionals in visual arts to participate in unique mentorship program for emerging artists from the Pacific Islands.

Honolulu, HI, August 25, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Following the success of its inaugural class, the Islands Society is proud to see the second class of Pacific Next Generations Artists launch later this year. To support the development of these young artists, the Islands Society is now seeking established artists, curators, journalists, and others with expertise in the visual arts to serve as their mentors.

“In 2016, we plan to expand the services that we offer to our Pacific Next Generation Artists,” says Keiko Ono, Vice President of the Islands Society. “In addition to showcasing their works in our virtual galleries and their insights and analysis in our publications, we also intend to pair the artists with mentors across a wide range of topics, including exhibitions, communications, marketing, and partnerships.”

The Islands Society is therefore calling on experienced visual art professionals who are passionate about fostering the next generation of visual artists in the Pacific Islands to become a part of the mentorship program for the 2016 Pacific Next Generation Artists.

In the words of past participant Jeffry Feeger, “One of the major strengths of the Pacific Next Generation Artists Program is that it enables young artists to establish a collective presence. In this way, we can be supportive of each other’s passions and encourage one another’s growth … Ultimately, the identification and celebration of artistic talent helps to foster cultural icons whom of which help to raise the profile of the arts in our region. Since I would like to see and to be a part the emergence of a cultural renaissance in the Pacific, I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of such initiatives.”
