Affluent Couples Collaborate to Make Vital Financial Decisions, Says Ephraim Global Survey

According to a recent Ephraim Global survey, financially prosperous couples tend to cooperate more in matters that relate to retirement or other monetary issues than couples or families with an average household income.

Tokyo, Japan, September 19, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Approximately 70% of high-net-worth Ephraim Global clients which are married or find themselves in a domestic partnership have replied that they consult with their life partner in terms of important financial decisions.

The results of the Ephraim Global Investor Pulse Survey show that 68.5% of high-net-worth clients make collaborative financial decisions with their life partners, especially when the topic of retirement is brought into discussion.

“In this day and age the tradition of a singular household decision maker has mostly faded away, and financial advisors are increasingly aware of this fact,” said Hajime Fujiharu, Chief Operating Officer of Ephraim Global. “7 out of 10 of the respondent couples have stated that their financial advisor consults with both parties, generally setting up a group meeting to discuss vital financial matters together. Assisting couples in making important decisions together is a crucial priority for every financial advisor.”

The survey also revealed that the most important topic of discussion pertaining to joint couple decision making is related to retirement (82%). Other commonly discussed topics amongst financially affluent couples also include: having sufficient capital to maintain a particular lifestyle after retirement (76%), effective retirement funding (72%), health and planning for unexpected health issues (67%) and assisting their children or grandchildren with various expenditures (64%).

The Ephraim Global Investor Pulse Survey was conducted by the company’s research team via telephone and online contact, amongst a sample of 1,200 clients around the world, aged between 20 to 60 years, with a minimum amount of $150,000 in investible assets throughout the months of July and August of 2015 and has a margin of error of +/- 2.0%.
