Local MP Visits North Shropshire College

Oswestry, United Kingdom, September 27, 2015 --(PR.com)-- North Shropshire College (NSC) is pleased to have had a visit from the Right Honourable Owen Paterson, MP for North Shropshire. Owen visited the College less than 12 months ago when the Construction Centre was in its infancy. Principal Jackie Doodson gave Owen a tour of the new Plumbing Department, explaining the significant growth in this curriculum area. The College now has 52 students and apprentices enrolled, which is a significant increase from 18 students in the first year.

Owen commented, "I am really pleased to see such an increase in the Plumbing Department; this will really benefit the local community." Niclas Davies, Plumbing Lecturer, commented, "Within the last 12 months, the Plumbing Department has expanded 200%; we have also taken on our first 4 apprentices. There has also been growth in the Basic Plumbing Evening Class where people learn basic maintenance skills; we now have our first female plumbing student join the Level 1 Diploma class this year. I am hoping to start the Level 3 Course next year, this is an extremely popular course in the local area and it adds skilled workers to the local workforce."

If you are an employer and would like to employ a plumbing apprentice please call NSC’s Apprenticeships Manager, Lucy Bowen, on 01939 262169 or email l.bowen@nsc.ac.uk.
