RatchetSoft Releases Free Community Edition of Ratchet-X Desktop Integration Platform

RatchetSoft’s Ratchet-X Community Edition allows users to add features and link new data sources to existing applications without requiring changes to the source code

Manhasset, NY, December 12, 2007 --(PR.com)-- RatchetSoft, LLC, maker of the innovative desktop integration platform Ratchet-X, announced today the release of Ratchet-X Community Edition.

Ratchet-X Community Edition is a free, full-featured version of the Ratchet-X platform. The driving force behind Ratchet-X is empowering software users to be more productive by allowing them to take greater control over their application integration needs. The basic value proposition comes from its ability to expand and enhance existing applications by transforming them from isolated “silos” of functionality and data into “mashups” that facilitate more integrated and accessible information across end users in an organization.

Ratchet-X’s unique capability can easily incorporate information and features residing within web services, databases, web sites, electronic forms and other traditional desktop applications.

“For some time, large organizations have leveraged the power of Ratchet-X to incorporate new functions into existing applications, “ said Joe Labbe, CEO of RatchetSoft. “However, the most innovative uses of our platform have come from smaller organizations and independent developers. The release of Ratchet-X Community Edition is our way of sharing the big power of Ratchet-X with this vital community of smaller organizations.”

RatchetSoft also announced it is launching Ratchet-X Online to support the release. Ratchet-X Online is a free community-supported repository of assets that Ratchet-X users can access to link their favorite applications. “While many of our customers create their own assets, we’re seeing a dramatic increase in asset-sharing, which ultimately strengthens the platform,” said George Weihs, CTO of RatchetSoft. “Ratchet-X Online is our first step towards cataloging these assets and encouraging viral growth.”

Coinciding with the release of Ratchet-X Community Edition, RatchetSoft is also releasing a suite of plug-ins based on several StrikeIron Marketplace web services. “We applaud RatchetSoft’s continued efforts to bring the power of web services to the applications people already use” said Bob Brauer, CEO of StrikeIron. “Combining StrikeIron data with RatchetSoft technology enables users to create a broad range of business solutions.”

Ratchet-X Community Edition will automatically come configured with the following StrikeIron Marketplace powered plug-ins:
- Address verification
- Business lookup
- Government lookup
- Residential lookup
- Reverse phone lookup
- Email address verification
- Zip code lookup
- ICD10 lookup
