Houston, TX, October 14, 2015 --(PR.com
)-- Where can the highest interest rates in the country on CDs – certificates of deposit – be found? Right here in Houston, offered by First Service Credit Union (https://www.fscu.com/about-us/).
The credit union, one of the largest in the Houston area, is in the top spot when it comes to the interest it is offering on its 12-month and 18-month CDs, according to the latest ranking from Deposit Accounts.com (https://www.depositaccounts.com/blog/2015/09/service-cu-tx-raises-12-18month-promo-cd-rates.html).
For a 12-month CD, First Service CU is paying an interest rate of 1.35 percent. On an 18-month CD, the rate is 1.55 percent.
For the 12-month CD, the nearest competitor is a credit union in Idaho, at 1.30 percent. And for the 18-month, the next best rate is 1.51 percent, from a New York-based credit union.
Existing and new members can open a CD for a minimum of $1,000 as part of First Service CU's "Highest in the Land" promotion (https://www.fscu.com/best-rates). First Service CU will offer the rate for a limited time, but hasn't set a cutoff date yet.
"We know most people are lucky to find a CD that pays even 1 percent for a year," said David Bleazard, President of First Service Credit Union. "We want to give our members a little something extra to show how much we appreciate them investing with us."
First Service CU experimented earlier this year with a high rate CD offer and generated hundreds of thousands in additional investments and scores of new members. The credit union welcomes new members, with membership open to people who live, work, or worship in Harris or Waller counties, or who work for some 140 companies and other organizations that partner with First Service CU.
