)-- This event was hosted with an idea to address the cyber security threats faced by education sectors and also to bring a transformation by educating the students on the cyber security. The speaker of the event was Sophos Country Manager – India & SAARAC Countries Mr. Kuldeep Raina.
He is considered to be one of the seasoned IT Security veterans in India. He has also developed many brands in India like mcAfee, Symantec, Iornport (CISCO). He is one of the IT Advisory Board members for India, to add further he is the IT Security consultant for most of the corporates in India especially in Banking & Finance, Government and Education industries. He is pursuing his Phd in Cyber Security. After the informative speech on the topic “Next Generation IT Security Threats in Education Institution” there was a round table discussion in which delegates from PSG, Janson and many other colleges came up with lot of innovative ideas on taking cyber security to the next level.
Coimbatore, known as an educational hub, has carved a niche for itself in housing a large number of institutions and offering a large number of courses. Also these institutions come up with ideas to meet the needs of the students for excellence in education and employability. Many colleges in Coimbatore are considered as top most colleges in the country. The invited delegates came up with a lot of ideas and discussed how the students could be educated on cyber security and how this curriculum could be included in their syllabus, to increase their career opportunities.
To encourage this Mr. Kumar and Jose the Directors of Skylark Information Technology came up with ideas of setting up Cyber Security Labs in the colleges. This was to enhance the hands on experience for the students on Ethical Hacking, Vulnerability, risks, threats etc. This was widely accepted by all the colleges and they have taken further steps in implementing a Cyber Security Lab in their Premises.
