ArtistShare Artist Spotlight: Brian Blade

Brian Blade exemplifies pure musicianship with saxophonist, Benjamin Koppel, and bassist, Scott Colley, on Koppel + Colley + Blade Collective (ArtistShare, 2015).

New York, NY, October 18, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Brian Blade is one of the most important and influential drummers in the 21st century. His abilities have given him the opportunity to work with masters in both jazz and other contemporary genres. He is a regular of both Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock’s bands and has worked with Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and others. In addition, he has received numerous accolades for his projects as a leader, The Fellowship Band and Mama Rosa. Brian received his first Grammy win for his collaboration in Chick Corea’s trio on Trilogy (also featuring Grammy award winning bassist, Christian McBride).

Brian collaborated with saxophonist Benjamin Koppel and bassist Scott Colley for a unique trio project called the Koppel + Colley + Blade Collective. Together they explore landscapes through sonic improvisations. Listeners can hear Brian’s skills as a drummer and as an arranger on his version of “Black is the Color of My True Love’s Hair.”

The Koppel + Colley + Blade Collective has been submitted for consideration in the 58th Grammy Awards. For more information on all the ArtistShare artists submitted, visit the website below:
