School of Rock Now Accepting Registration for Winter Break Beginner Guitar Camp
December 28 and December 29, 2015 young rockers ages 7-15 with less than one year experience playing guitar will gather to learn how to play guitar. Students who enroll by December 1, 2015 will receive a free guitar cable and free guitar tuner, courtesy of MAC Music Accessories.
“Nearly 50 percent of U.S. parents say technological distractions, such as television, cell phones or video games make it difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle for their children,” according to a YMCA study. With more free time during the winter break from school, keeping kids busy, engaged and off the iPad and cell phone could be a greater challenge.
Guitar Camp is an excellent option that is both fun and educational. In fact, the “U.S. Department of Education data on more than 25,000 secondary school students found that students who report consistent high levels of involvement in instrumental music over the middle and high school years show significantly higher levels of mathematics proficiency by grade 12.”
“We know a lot of kids get a guitar for Christmas,” says Stacey Marmolejo, Franchise Owner of the Minnesota School of Rock locations. “But most parents don’t think about how the child will learn to play it. Unless there’s a musician in the house to show the kid a few things, the guitar generally sits in the corner until after the New Year. And all the excitement that surrounded getting the guitar wears off.”
“That’s why we started offering our Winter Beginner Guitar Camp three years ago,” added Marmolejo. “It’s one of the most popular camps we offer. And this year we’ve teamed with MAC Music Accessories to provide a free guitar tuner and free guitar cable to each student who enrolls in camp before December 1, 2015, making it even more affordable for parents.”
Both of these accessories are necessary to play electric guitar. Together they retail for $49.98. The price of the camp is $49.00
