New Access to HE Course Starting in January 2016 at NSC

Oswestry, United Kingdom, November 05, 2015 --(PR.com)-- In January 2016, a new Access to Higher Education (Access to HE) Health course will be starting at North Shropshire College’s (NSC) Oswestry Campus. The Access to HE Health course has been extremely popular at NSC, with many former students going on to University to study many different subjects such as Midwifery, Nursing, Sports Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Social Work.

Jill Cawthray, Access to HE Coordinator, commented on why many people take the Access to HE course saying "I am very proud to be a part of our successful Access to HE Course. For mature students it really does open doors to many rewarding careers and Higher Education courses. Past students do keep in touch and it is very satisfying to hear how they are progressing in their degrees. Students get a chance to refresh their skills in a supportive environment. Many make tremendous gains in confidence and self-belief."

Nicola Kendall a current student is applying for an Adult Nursing degree at Bangor University which will be studied at the Archimedes Centre in Wrexham. Nicola commented "It has been excellent preparation for University and the Health Units studied link well with those I will study on the degree programme." Another Health student, Menglin Li, is applying for Adult Nursing through Staffordshire University based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, she has found the course to be interesting and enjoyable and is very pleased with the level of support that was offered to her.

Of the 22 students who started the Access to HE Health Course in September 2014, 95% gained their Access certificate and all the students who went on to be first time applicants for Nursing were successful. Students also progressed to Occupational Therapy and Social Work Degrees.
