Will Mark Thomas' Malevolent Bring a New Level of Fear to the Screen?

In the era of the relentlessly rehashed horror film, horror fans are desperate for something new and fresh. A new horror filmmaker from Pittsburgh may be delivering just that.

Pittsburgh, PA, November 06, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Pittsburgh filmmaker, Mark Thomas, is said to be taking horror to a new psychological level with his current project "Malevolent."

Thomas is now two months into the screenplay and says, "it could have been done a lot sooner, but I'm taking my time to craft every last detail to make Malevolent truly deliver." He has said that he has had the screenplay done multiple times before scratching it and starting over to make it better.

"One of the things I'm really focusing on is telling a truly frightening story. There are so many elements that go into really scaring an audience. You want to make sure that all of those elements come together and leave such a lasting impression on the viewer that it sits deep in their minds for quite some time. A lot of today's horror films don't do that."

It turns out that Thomas actually has a flare for horror and has worked at scaring people since the age of 16. Thomas was part of a team that designed, and built an entire half of a haunted attraction near his hometown. He says that "it was all in fun. Those were really fun times." He said, "We were basically tasked with conceptualizing ideas that would scare the paying customers in ways unlike anything they've experienced before. Our entire team was very detail oriented. We didn't skimp on any detail." Thomas says that his best friend and co-worker from back in those days, Michael Carr, is actually co-writing and producing Malevolent.

The film will take us into the mind of an average teenager Jeremy Huff, who loses both of his parents and has to move in with his aunt. Jeremy quickly finds that life is about to get very disturbing and he must overcome his own mind to get to the truth. The truth that he finds is a terrifying reality. Thomas promises that the film will not fail to deliver on the fear.

The film will feature quite a few first time actors as well. The lead role of Jeremy Huff will be portrayed by Brendan Klink. Klink will be making his acting debut in Malevolent as will the other lead actor Morgan Smith, who will be portraying Jennifer Huff.

BlackAsylum Entertainment has stated that Thomas is very intent on a Spring to Summer shooting schedule, which means that they may be planning for a Halloween 2016 release. They have not confirmed that however. They did confirm that the film is scheduled to be released in 2016. One thing is for certain and that is that Thomas and Carr are very intent on giving us all nightmares.
