Historic Pictoric Releases New Calendar Title: Long Island

Buffalo, NY, November 12, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Historic Pictoric, a brand that specializes in restored historic images, announces the publication of its Historic Long Island 2016 Calendar: http://www.historicpictoric.com/historic-long-island-2016-calendar.html.

Featuring black-and-white photographs provided by the Library of Congress, National Archives and Freeport Library, which have been digitally restored by Historic Pictoric, the Long Island 2016 calendar is a new offering in the brand's established calendar series. The calendar begins with an image of the Montauk Point Lighthouse, foregrounded by waves breaking in a small cove (c1900), and continues with scenes of Ford Model T's parked outside the Freeport Repair Garage (c1908); people dressed in Victorian clothes, replete with parasols, strolling the Long Beach Boardwalk (c1911); and two sailboats cruising by Shelter Island at sunset (c1905).

Each image is accompanied by a description that places the photograph in historical context. History buffs will discover the significance of the Old Nassau County Courthouse, ensconced in ivy, as the site of Florence Conklin Carman's murder trial in 1914. A brief explanation of how the rise of pari-mutuel betting impacted horse racing complements a photograph of spectators wearing straw boater hats at Belmont Park.

The Historic Long Island calendar is more than a collection of stunning photographs from days past. Together, the images and the descriptions provide a window into the past lives of Long Islanders' streets, buildings, resorts and public spaces.

The Historic Long Island and all 36 titles of the 2016 Historic Calendar Series are currently available for purchase on the Historic Pictoric, Amazon and Barnes & Noble websites, as well as at select Bed Bath & Beyond stores. Wholesalers and stores interested in ordering should contact info@historicpictoric.com.
