Medicare Open Enrollment Triples Call Volume to Medicare Supplement Insurance Association

The volume of consumers seeking information on Medicare Supplement insurance from the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance has tripled according to the national trade group.

Los Angeles, CA, November 12, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The number of consumers seeking information on Medicare Supplement insurance has tripled during this Open Enrollment season according to a preliminary analysis released today by the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance.

"Open enrollment always generates heightened interest and calls from consumers but the volume this year has eclipsed prior years," declares Jesse Slome, executive director of AAMSI, a trade group. "It might be the result of more Americans eligible for Medicare or more people looking to switch coverage, or a combination of both."

The Association which does not directly sell insurance products attempts to answer questions and connect consumers with Medicare Supplement insurance, also referred to as Medigap policies, with knowledgeable professionals who are licensed to sell policies specific for their location.

"We are delighted to assist but the volume of calls during Open Enrollment this year is a bit unexpected," Slome shares. Medicare Open Enrollment began on October 15 and ends December 7, 2015

"Medicare health and drug plans can make changes each year," Slome notes. "They can change things like cost, coverage, and what providers and pharmacies are in their networks. Open enrollment is the time period when all people with Medicare may be able to change their Medicare health plans and prescription drug coverage for the following year to better meet their needs," the Medicare Supplement insurance expert adds.

The American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance was established to promote sound and affordable planning for Americans. The organization is based in Westlake Village, CA. For more information, visit the organization's website www.medicaresupp.org.
