Beauty.AI Announces the First International Beauty Contest Judged by an Artificial Intelligence Jury

In a move that will enter into the history books as the first beauty contest judged by artificial intelligence, Beauty.AI opens as a platform bridging human participants and algorithm developers with a mission to develop an impartial machine intelligence with the perception of human beauty. People are able to enter the beauty pageant using a mobile app, and data scientists teams from all over the world can submit algorithms for evaluating the many criteria linked to perception of human beauty.

London, United Kingdom, November 19, 2015 --(PR.com)-- What matters in beauty is perception. Perception is how you and other people see you, and this perception is almost always biased. Still, healthy people look more attractive despite their age and nationality.

This has enabled the team of biogerontologists and data scientists, who believe that in the nearest future, machines will be able to get a lot of vital medical information about people's health by just processing their photos, to develop a set of algorithms that can accurately evaluate the criteria linked to perception of human beauty and health where it is most important – the human face. But evaluating beauty and health is not enough. The team’s challenge is to find effective ways to slow down ageing and help people look healthy and beautiful.

As a first step to this ambitious challenge, the team has started the huge international scientific experiment, called The First Beauty Contest Judged by Artificial Intelligence, where they invite all the people of the world, including the Robot Jury - Data Scientists, who will teach machines to estimate human attractiveness.

Robots will look at human pictures taken by a standardized app and compare them with millions of others. They will evaluate the many features including symmetry, skin color, wrinkles and many other beauty, youthfulness and health parameters which affect our perception of human beauty and rank people within their age group, race and gender.

“Artificial intelligence systems have already surpassed humans in image recognition, and it is only a matter of time before robots will be able to evaluate human visual appeal, engage in fashion design, and even make perfumes. We decided to build a platform which will help bridge some of the most advanced humans - those who are interested in robot opinion and those developers, who are building intelligent systems to understand the beauty function. We want to turn this into a quarterly contest, which will attract more algorithms and more people interested in getting an impartial perception of their beauty, taking into consideration their age, gender and thousands of other parameters,” said Alexey Shevtsov, the co-founder of Youth Laboratories collective.

This ambitious team has also partnered with top infrastructural companies like Nvidia and Microsoft to provide the best computation facilities for algorithm testing.

This contest also provides several opportunities to go down in human history: as the first human in the world to win the the beauty contest judged by robots, or as one of the first data scientists who taught a machine to estimate human attractiveness.

“Most people are not interested in aging or in extending longevity, but they are interested in how others perceive their appearance. My interest in Beauty.AI is related to understanding how the perception of someone’s facial appearance changes with age. Humans are generally biased and there needs to be a robot to provide an impartial opinion. Beauty.AI is the first step in a much larger story, in which a mobile app trained to evaluate the perception of human appearance will evolve into a caring personal assistant to help users look their best and retain their youthful looks for as long as possible,” said Alex Zhavoronkov, PhD, CEO of Insilco Medicine, Inc, who consults on aging and age-related issues.

The Beauty.AI contest will be conducted online at http://www.beauty.ai/

It’s timeline is:

It starts as of November, 19, 2015

All people of the world are welcome to submit their selfies up to January, 15, 2016 through the Beauty.AI App

Data scientists teams are welcome to submit their algorithms up to January, 20, 2016 on http://www.beauty.ai/

Winners will be announced as of January, 28, 2016.

The Beauty.AI mobile app for Android platforms is available for download today and the iPhone mobile app will become available in four weeks after the launch date.

About Beauty.AI
Beauty.AI is the first beauty contest judged entirely by robot jury, where humans and robots can apply participate. Every quarter this platform will open submissions for multiple developers of beauty-ranking algorithms to train and test their systems. The project is organized by the Youth Laboratories collective, which is dedicated to understanding of the human nature and effective ways to slow down aging and retain the youthful look for as long as possible.
