Oil + Water Film Wins Best Picture and Youth Jury Award at Jules Verne

The win was announced in front of a star-studded audience of thousands at the Shrine Auditorium in downtown Los Angeles on December 9.

The win was announced in front of a star-studded audience of thousands at the Shrine Auditorium in downtown Los Angeles on December 9.

Oil + Water tells of the thrilling adventures of Seth Warren and Tyler Bradt, two friends and world-class kayakers who drove, petroleum-free, over 21,000 miles down the Pan-American Highway in a retro-fitted bio-diesel Japanese fire truck named "Baby". The film captures their passion for sustainable living practices and the humor they maintained in the face of many challenges along the way.

Founded in Paris in 1991 by filmmakers and explorers Jean-Christophe Jeauffre and Frédéric Dieudonné, the Jules Verne Adventures organization is a nonprofit with a mission to honor and preserve the natural bio-diversity of the planet. The Jules Verne Adventure Film Festival, which ran this year from December 5-15 and is now celebrating its fifteenth anniversary, was conceived to inspire and enlighten the human spirit about the mysteries and wonders of the universe with unprecedented spectacle, style and passion.

To date, Oil + Water has already won the Daniel DeLaVergne Spirit Award at the Ashville Film Festival, Best Environmental Film at the Taos Mountain Film Festival, and a Jury Special Prize at the Kendal Mountain Film Fest. Now an Official Selection at the 2008 Vancouver International Film Fest, the Wild and Scenic Film Fest, the Durango Film Fest, and the Carbondale Film Fest, Oil + Water is sure to continue delighting film festival audiences around the world.
