Columbus, OH, December 03, 2015 --(PR.com
)-- According to StateofObesity.org: Ohio 2015 obesity rates for adults are 32.6% with a total rank of 8 out of the 51 states. 32.6% is the obesity rate not the overweight rate, which would increase the rate to over 2/3 the state. Obesity rates increased from 20.6% in 2000.
Ohio has on obesity rate of 32.6%. The obesity epidemic can be traced to multiple factors. Those most commonly cited are poor diets and sedentary lifestyles.
The nationwide increase in obesity is counterintuitive. The fitness and fat loss industries are booming, but people aren't getting healthier. Something isn't right.
"Most fitness and pharmaceutical companies care more about fattening their bottom lines than they do about slimming people's waistlines," said Yun, owner of Improvement Warrior Fitness and Athletic Revolution-Hilliard in Columbus, Ohio.
"The real key to fat loss is knowing and application of the basics of fitness and nutrition and having a social support network that holds you accountable for your goals."
To combat the rise in obesity in the Columbus and Hilliard, Ohio area, Yun has begun reaching out to businesses to offer free "Lunch and Learns" on topics such as nutrition, exercise and injury-prevention.
"With all the misinformation out there, it can be difficult for people to know what steps they actually need to take to get healthy. My organization has put together some simple and effective workshops to help people get moving in the right direction. We have been lied to by people in trusted positions for decades and it's time to set the record straight!"
