Admired for their vibrancy, energy and technical artistry, the Kontras Quartet has earned a dedicated following for their delightful musical personality. Kontras performs both beloved masterpieces and lesser-known musical gems from every corner of the world. The Kontras Quartet records for MSR Classics and Double Time Music, and their two recently released albums have garnered rave reviews from Gramophone and Fanfare Magazine. Kontras has also earned acclaim for their ongoing collaboration with bluegrass sensations The Kruger Brothers, including performances on Late Night with David Letterman and at IBMA, MerleFest and Telluride, three of the largest bluegrass festivals in the world. The Quartet's performances can frequently be heard on national public radio, including shows such as Performance Today and Concierto.

Designed by Mies van der Rohe in 1945 and constructed in 1951, the Farnsworth House is a vital part of American iconography, an exemplary representation of the modern movement's desire to juxtapose the sleek, streamline design of Modern structure with the organic environment of surrounding nature. Mies constructed this glass box residence of "almost nothing" for Dr. Edith Farnsworth as a country retreat along the Fox River in Plano, IL. It continued to be a private residence for over 50 years until Landmarks Illinois and the National Trust for Historic Preservation purchased it in 2003. Today, it is owned and managed by the Trust and the site is open as a public museum.

The Farnsworth House is located at 14520 River Road, Plano, IL 60545. Free parking is available at the visitor's center located at Gate 1.
