Trojan Utilities Triumphs with 5.5 Million Contract Win

Bolton, United Kingdom, December 11, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Trojan Utilities shake hands on a three year multi-million pound deal to deliver Smart metering services to independent gas and electrical supplier OVO Energy, the only independent gas and electricity supplier recognised as the Which? Recommended Provider 2015.

Initially worth around £5.5m, Trojan Utilities will be supporting upgrading gas and electricity meters for OVO Energy customers across the UK allowing OVO Energy to advance ambitious plans to gain more market share of the supplier market as customers move away from the Big Six.

Managing Director of OVO In-Home Technology, Melissa Gander says: “The demand for Smart meter technology is at an all time high and we are committed to delivering the best solutions for our customers. This partnership with Trojan means we can now install Smart technology into more of our customers’ homes than ever before.

“Next year we expect to install an additional 100,000 Smart meters; Trojan will play an instrumental role in supporting us with this ambitious target, whilst ensuring we maintain the award winning customer experience OVO prides itself on.”

Gareth Openshaw, Managing Director of Trojan Utilities says: "This is exciting news for Trojan and marks our development as the largest and fastest growing independent installer of Smart Meters in the UK. To be chosen by OVO Energy to assist with their own fantastic business growth is very pleasing and is testament to the skills, experience and dedication of the management team and all the staff of Trojan Utilities.

"We look forward to not only delivering this new contract, but building upon it and further extending our operational services to delight OVO Energy and to provide an excellent service to their customers too."

Trojan Utilities are expected to achieve 250,000 Smart Meter installs by the end of this year working for independent energy suppliers as the national roll-out of Smart Meters continues to pick up pace across 26 million households.

Smart Meters help customers see exactly the energy they are using. The effect of reducing energy usage can be seen immediately via the in-home display, which helps customers make better choices and save money. Smart Meters ensure customers receive accurate bills without submitting a meter reading as the meter sends regular and accurate readings to the energy supplier every day.

The national roll-out of Smart Meters is a Government mandated programme which will mean 53 million Smart Meters will be fitted in over 26 million households across England, Scotland and Wales by 2020.
