A Busy Start of Year for NSC Travel and Tourism

Oswestry, United Kingdom, December 11, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Travel and Tourism students from North Shropshire College’s Oswestry Campus have had a busy start to the new academic year. They have visited many popular tourist sites in England and Wales, looking at the facilities and attractions for tourists. The students have also been assessing the customer service experience at these sites and rating it. They have also received talks from guest speakers who work at tourist attractions near Oswestry.

One of the guest speakers was Laurel Smith, from the National Trust at Erddig. She gave a talk on the National Trust and Erddig, discussed the work experience programme that is open to students. The second year students visited the Snowdonia National Park Information Centre at Betws-y-Coed, studying why people would go to the National Park and what activities are available there.

First year students looked at activities available at museums in Liverpool, they also had a day of team building activities and a tour of the Liverpool History Museum. Travel and Tourism Lecturer, Tracey Brown, commented, "These visits are about seeing what other organisations offer in terms of customer service, there will be opportunities for the students to do work experience as part of their qualification and we are keen to here from organisations who can provide placements for our students."
