NSC Biology Students Visit Keele University

Oswestry, United Kingdom, January 07, 2016 --(PR.com)-- A group of Science A Level and BTEC Forensic Science Students from North Shropshire College (NSC) recently visited Keele University, the focus of the day was to allow the students to extract their own DNA and see their genetic fingerprint. Biology tutor Shôn Prebble commented, "We’ve arranged this activity for a couple of years now and the students always enjoy it. Seeing your own genetic fingerprint isn’t something everyone can say they’ve done, and the skills the learners develop in the activity are vital to most Bioscience careers."

BTEC Science student, Ellie Meddings, commented "I really enjoyed the visit to Keele; I especially enjoyed the extraction of our DNA. The best part was seeing my genetic fingerprint, we also got to experience what university life is like. All of the lecturers were friendly and made sure we understood how to use the equipment." Vickie O’Sullivan, A Level Biology student, commented "Seeing all the equipment set up made it all seem very real, I enjoyed the experience and it helped me understand the theory for my exam. It was a really good experience."
