The Friday Institute Announces Spring 2016 MOOCs to Support Personalized Professional Learning for Educators

Raleigh, NC, January 08, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The Friday Institute for Educational Innovation at NC State University’s College of Education has announced four new opportunities for free online educator professional development this Spring through their Massive Open Online Courses for Educators (MOOC-Ed) project.

MOOC-Ed courses are self-directed, peer-supported, project-based, and allow for rich blended learning opportunities. They are flexible and can be accessed at any time, in any place, and on any device. Courses are free, open to all interested U.S. and international educators, and cover a wide variety of topics, including digital learning, K-12 mathematics, technology integration, and deeper learning. Certificates are available upon completion of all courses.

Registration is now open for four Spring courses, which include:

Coaching Digital Learning
February 15, 2016 - March 27, 2016
Enhance digital learning content knowledge and further develop coaching strategies to cultivate a digital learning culture.

Disciplinary Literacy for Deeper Learning
February 1, 2016 - March 13, 2016
Learn how to develop literacy across discipline areas, including science, social studies, English/language arts, and mathematics using the Model for Inquiry-Based Disciplinary Literacy.

Fraction Foundations

Built on research-based models of effective professional development and online communities of practice, the Friday Institute’s MOOC-Ed courses focus on authentic, project-based learning, collaboration, and peer-supported learning. Participants who complete MOOC-Eds are eligible to receive a Certificate of Completion of 20 hours of professional development from NC State University, and educators around the world have applied their MOOC-Ed experience toward CEU requirements.
