PHX Architecture Mirabel Estate Design Wins “Best Custom Home of the Year” by NHAB at the Best in American Living Award Show in Las Vegas, NV

Scottsdale, AZ, January 24, 2016 --( The Best in American Living Awards, hosted by the National Association of Home Builders has recognized a PHX Architecture design as “Home of the Year 2015.” PHX is honored to be a part of the talent team behind such an exquisite residential project. PHX Architecture’s Erik Peterson AIA, along with Project Architect, Tom Bell AIA collaborated with Luster Custom Homes, Kim Scodro Interiors and Russ Greey of Greey Pickett to bring this award-winning estate from an idea to a dream home.

Built on the Mirabel golf course in North Scottsdale surrounded by mountains, this single story hacienda style structure is perched just high enough on a hill to see the downtown lights from a distance at night. The home was designed with a vast panorama and an open, lived-in floorplan which encourages family gatherings and outdoor living throughout the year. A tour through the space includes the kitchen, living room and dining area which all make up one centrally situated space overlooking the golf course, an endless hallway which connects to the private quarters and endless glass doors which brings the outdoors in and vice versa. Scodro had full reign of the interiors filling the home with calming, soft palettes of pale blues, greys and creams. Ensuring that each room flowed into the next, layers of textures and assorted woods offered a softened, warm aura to the environment. A main attraction of the property is a quaint infinity pool which is elevated at the same level as the patio at entry and appears to drop into the desert from the side. The serene and peaceful water feature adds a tranquil element to the home.

Each year, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) hosts the International Builders’ Show (IBS) which is known to be the single most important event annually for the home building industry and is the world’s largest show of its kind for the residential and light commercial construction industry. IBS brings together the industry’s most important global manufacturers and suppliers and showcases the latest products, materials and technology involved in all types of buildings. The show attracts 50,000 visitors from more than 100 countries. This year’s event was held at the Las Vegas Convention Center and ran from Saturday, January 16th through Thursday, January 21st, 2016.

Exhibiting more than 500,000 square feet of 1,400 manufacturers and suppliers’ latest and most in-demand products and services, the IBS also is home to the Best in American Living Awards. On the evening of Thursday, January 20th in the Havana Room at the Tropicana Las Vegas, designers, builders and professionals alike celebrated the best in home design from architecture to interior design, from new construction to renovations from green building to affordable housing.
