San Francisco Transgender Empowerment Advocacy and Mentorship Announces a Collaborative Health and Resource Fair for the Transgender Community

San Francisco, CA, December 27, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The San Francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center’s Transgender Empowerment Advocacy and Mentorship (SF TEAM), in collaboration with the Transgender Economic Empowerment Initiative (TEEI), the San Francisco Department of Public Health – HIV Prevention Section and Assemblyman Mark Leno’s Office will host the first ever Transgender Health and Resource Fair which will be held on January 25th, 2008.

All transgender community members and allies are invited to participate, connect and be engaged in San Francisco’s Transgender Health and Resource Fair. The day’s activities highlight some of San Francisco’s transgender community resources, health screening services, and social services that aim to empower and transform transgender communities. Featured guest speakers will include the 13th Assembly District, Assemblyman Mark Leno, the Director of the San Francisco Department of Public Health, Mitch Katz and the San Francisco LGBT Community Center’s Director of Economic Development, Ken Stram.

The Transgender Health and Resource Fair will feature interactive health screenings (HIV testing, STD screening, alternative health therapies), employment readiness information, transgender health care information, health and wellness resources, useful information on health issues for California, economic empowerment resources including countless prizes and gifts to all participants. The health fair will take place on Friday, January 25th from 10:00AM to 4:00PM at the State Office Building – Milton Marks Conference Center. It is located at 455 Golden Gate Avenue (between Polk and Larkin Streets), Basement Floor in San Francisco.

The goal of the Transgender Health and Resource collaborative is to foster and promote health and wellness among San Francisco’s transgender community. The Health and Resource Fair hopes to empower and mobilize transgender individuals in their health and well-being while strengthening and modeling innovative partnerships between the private, public and social (nonprofit) sectors.
