Street Scholar Music Group was established in 2008 by CEO Robert "Leo" Rodgers. Rodgers had a vision for a record label that would represent an array of artists with various musical styles from different genres. No stranger to the streets himself, Rodgers an Oakland Bay area native, always valued the benefits of a good education whether it be academically or socially; in school or on the streets. With this concept in mind he came up with Street Scholar Music Group (SSMG).

Bungalo Records is exclusively distributed by Universal Music Group Distribution for the past 12 years. In 2007 Bungalo brought Universal its biggest selling inspirational album of the year with Patti Labelle which remained at #1 for 12 weeks. Bungalo has had continued success with UMGD in all genres of music with top 10 records in all formats over the years.
