Irene Hartfield CD Release Valentine’s Concert

Ely, MN, February 04, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Singer, pianist and songwriter Irene Hartfield will present a concert celebrating the release of her new CD, Play Me, on Valentine’s Day, Sunday, February 14, 2016 at the Vermilion College Fine Arts Theater. Concert goers will have the opportunity to be the first to purchase copies of the recording.

The concert, which begins at 7 p.m., winds up the 10-day Ely Winter Festival and is a benefit for the organization.

Joining her onstage will be album co-producer and world-renowned drummer, Robin Anders. Hartfield and Anders will be performing selections from the CD, such as “Embraceable You” by Gershwin, “Night and Day” by Cole Porter, “Loves Me like a Rock” by Paul Simon, and the title song, “Play Me,” by Neil Diamond, as well as other love songs and some of Hartfield’s original songs.

Before returning to her hometown of Ely in 2003, Hartfield enjoyed a successful career as a musician in New York City, playing in clubs with The Irene Hartfield Trio and doing studio work: writing, singing and playing for commercials and recordings. She also played for two seasons on Holland-America Cruise Lines, the inspiration for her initial CD release of original songs, “The Blue Period.”

Irene plays in the area during the summer season with the all-star Roadhouse Jam Band that includes Anders, bassist Earl Bulinski, and guitarist Jef Cierniak. “The rock and blues repertoire of the Jam Band is a real fun departure for me. But the tunes on this CD are songs that I always loved performing and felt that I had a unique ‘take’ on,” said Hartfield.

Tickets are $15, available in advance at the Front Porch Coffee & Tea Co., online at ElyWinterFestival.com or at the door.

All are invited to the After Party at Antlers Bar in the Grand Ely Lodge.
