Oswestry, United Kingdom, February 07, 2016 --(PR.com)-- North Shropshire College (NSC) in partnership with The New Saints Football Club (TNSFC) will be holding trials for its collaborative Football Scholarship in April; the trials will be for students starting College in September this year. The Scholarship is delivered by the College in partnership with the Football Club, it is ideal for anyone who is passionate about football. The Scholarship allows students to use the facilities at TNSFC’s Park Hall Stadium including the gym and outdoor pitch; students will also have access to the multi-use sports hall at Oswestry Leisure Centre and training pitches at NSC’s Oswestry Campus.

Football Scholars will study BTEC Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications in Sport Development and Coaching; there is also the opportunity to study Football Coaching qualifications with the Shropshire FA. Sport Lecturer Steve Benyon commented "Trials for the upcoming successful TNS and North Shropshire College football scholarship will take place at the Venue, Park Hall on Friday 1st April 1.30-3pm and Wednesday 6th April 2-3.30. All abilities welcomed to come down with boots and shin pads and trainers to showcase their talents in a fun, challenging and rewarding environment."

Scott Ruscoe, TNSFC’s Head of Youth and First Team Head Coach commented "We have continued to improve the quality of the scholarship programme and the club are now reaping the rewards. There are several first team players who started out on the course and have improved as players. Priorities for us are improving the individual on and off the field. I think it's a great route for someone who wants to gain a qualification in sport and be part of a team, with a real chance of making a living in football. We also give everyone the chance to prepare for their future after college, helping them in any way we can as a club."

Students interested are urged to apply for the scholarship via www.nsc.ac.uk. All abilities are given the opportunity to join the scholarship as there are several teams dependant on skill level and ability.

The trials will be taking place on Friday 1st April at 1.30pm to 3pm and Wednesday 6th April at 1.45pm at TNSFC’s Park Hall Stadium, participants will need to bring training kit and a bottle of water.
