IVR Technology Group, CommuniGate Systems Launch Joint Venture Aimed at Introducing Biometric Authentication Into Telephonic Transactions

A patent-pending biometric authentication app known as ActiveAuth, will act as an in-call biometric authentication technology aimed at the healthcare market.

Buffalo, NY, February 20, 2016 --(PR.com)-- IVR Technology Group, a leader in secure voice and text-based applications, and CommuniGate Systems, a leader in carrier grade Unified Communication applications announced plans to create a joint venture to commercialize ActiveAuth, an in-call biometric authentication technology aimed at the healthcare market.

ActiveAuth leverages IVR Technology Group’s expertise in building highly secure, HIPAA-compliant voice applications with CommuniGates’ expertise in SaaS delivery with mobile and web applications. ActiveAuth, to be available via the Apple and Android marketplaces, will authenticate a patient’s identity during sensitive in-call transactions like requesting access to sensitive medical information or making changes to health coverage plans.

With ActiveAuth, a patient can authenticate their identity using their smartphone while on a call with a live agent. The positive verification of the patient’s identity is then sent to the live agent thereby allowing the conversation to continue.

Akash Desai, President, IVR Technology Group said, “Authentication - knowing the requester is indeed who they say they are - is one of the key challenges in maintaining security over data. Authenticating a caller in a healthcare call center environment is currently done by asking biographic information which is not very secure. The ask-response transactions also take up valuable time. ActiveAuth uses fingerprint authentication via a smartphone during the call to make authentication more secure and much more efficient. As a company that builds customer experiences everyday, we are thrilled to marry smartphones to call centers like this.”

The two companies will deliver a patent pending, fingerprint authentication application, known as “ActiveAuth,” that will give call centers, healthcare providers, and financial institutions the ability to develop a new generation of clinical applications. The developing platform will utilize in-house developers that can connect within a wide range of industries.

Michael Byrne, CEO, IVR Technology Group said, “With this venture, we will demonstrate what is possible when leading companies with complementary capabilities work together to meet a common goal. We believe that fingerprint authentication will eliminate passcodes, problematic security based questions and truly enhance the consumer experience.”

“The expertise of IVR Technology Group around compliancy and secure cloud-based technologies is fundamental to their continued success in such a competitive marketplace. IVR Tech Group’s dedication and extensive knowledge allows our partnership to be built on a common trust of competence. CommuniGate is pleased to work with such a great team,” said Jon Doyle, Vice President, CommuniGate Systems.
