New Survey Says Online Shoppers do Not Want Same Day Delivery or In-Store Pick Up

A new survey conducted by online shoe retailer, Yengo.ca of Toronto shows that contrary to current thinking most online shoppers are not looking to e-commerce sites to provide them with same day delivery or the option to pick up their purchases in person. “This was a complete surprise for us,” says David Koa, president of Yengo.ca. “We expected that same day delivery and the ability to pick up your purchases would be two of the most desirable features of any online shopping experience."

Toronto, Canada, February 25, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Online Shopping Survey Says Shoppers Don’t Want Same Day Delivery Or In-Store Pick-Up

Yengo.ca says online shoppers want a large selection, discounts and to know the cost that is in their cart:

A new survey conducted by online shoe retailer, Yengo.ca of Toronto shows that contrary to current thinking most online shoppers are not looking to e-commerce sites to provide them with same day delivery or the option to pick up their purchases in person.

“This was a complete surprise for us,” says David Koa, president of Yengo.ca. “We expected that same day delivery and the ability to pick up your purchases would be two of the most desirable features of any online shopping experience, especially given all the recent media coverage regarding many e-commerce sites making these key parts of their strategy.” However, only 15% of respondents rated ‘Same Day Delivery’ as a Very Important or Important feature while 19% rated ‘Pickup Purchases In Person’ the same.

Instead, the top three features that were rated as Very Important or Important by survey respondents are ‘Knowing The Total Costs Before Checkout’ (94%), “Items On Sale” (92%) and a “Large Selection of Shoes” (90%).

Shoppers still want the same things when shopping online
“At the end of the day, people want many of the same things when shopping online as when shopping in a physical store,” adds Koa. “Shoppers want to know how much they are spending as they add items into their shopping cart and they want deals. Shoppers also expect an online shopping experience to provide them with a large assortment of merchandise from which to choose.”

Shoe envy does exist
The survey also confirmed that 50% of respondents had experienced shoe envy at least once during the past 30 days and that 54% considered shoes their favourite item of clothing. “While conventional wisdom says that the clothing style dictates the shoe style, we learned that in fact the majority of people actually prefer shoes over clothes and they like the shoes of their friends or family even more,” quips Koa.

How much would you pay for shoes?
For the right shoes only 25% would ‘break the bank’. Instead, 84% of respondents said they normally spend between $50 to $99 on a new pair of shoes and what is important to them when buying shoes is fit or comfort, ranked as the #1 and #2 purchase criteria, respectively. Surprisingly, the brand name of the shoe is the least important factor.

Details of the Survey
The survey was conducted online during the first week of February 2016 with a sample size of 194 respondents:

93% of respondents are women living across Canada
88% of respondents are at least 35 years of age
75% of respondents had made an online purchase at least once
62% of respondents had purchased shoes online at least once
