NSC Computing Students Nominated for Digital Champions

Oswestry, United Kingdom, March 03, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Two Level 3 BTEC Computing students at North Shropshire College’s (NSC) Oswestry Campus have been nominated for the 2015-2016 Digital Champion Program, the Student Digital Champion Program is being held by technology service company CAE (Committed, Agile, Energetic). The Digital Champion Program is held by CAE to seek out fresh talent, help students shape their future careers, understand how young people feel about technology and make sure it is fit for purpose and explore collaborations between technology companies and the FE sector.

As part of the nomination, the students will be visiting The Gadget Show in April and will visit and spend time with an IT company in May. The winners of the competition will be announced in June, the NSC students, Gareth Gavan and Daniel Sayers, are in contention with 17 other FE colleges around the UK. James Fletcher, from CAE, commented "Daniel and Gareth have been nominated for this competition for their slick idea for an app specifically targeted at FE students."

Computing lecturer, Colin Young, commented "Their nomination is well deserved and I am very proud of their achievement." Gareth Gavan commented "It is a fantastic and inspirational opportunity for us to further our careers." Daniel Sayers added "We’re delighted to be short listed for this prestigious award; we’re both looking forward to attending The Gadget Show in April."
