)-- ModelFoundry Pty. Ltd. released the first update to its iPad app of the same name. ModelFoundry version 1.1 lets users create, edit and share business process models using the Business Process Model & Notation (BPMN) standard, which is maintained by the Object Management Group (OMG).
“Practitioners now have a way to easily share their BPMN models directly with their stakeholders,” said Sam Mancarella, ModelFoundry’s founder and managing director. “They can interact with the actual model from wherever they are and provide direct input. It’s something you just can’t do with a PDF of the model.”
In addition to BPMN modeling, ModelFoundry also provides free modeling templates to create mindmaps (also known as concept maps), flowcharts and organization charts.
ModelFoundry’s winning formula originates from its unique design, which uses language data to configure the app for use. The language data, which describes the entities and their behaviour, is swapped with another depending on the kind of model the user opens. This allows ModelFoundry to support more modelling languages in the future.
“We created a single app that a user can just pick up and use on any kind of model,” said Mancarella. “An app like that can easily complement an organisation’s existing modelling solution.”
ModelFoundry version 1.1 is available for download on the App Store with BPMN available as an In-App purchase.
ModelFoundry, located at Kilkenny in South Australia, was founded on the principle that everyone can create meaningful models. People create models of something to be built, performed, or to be understood and often use substandard or overly complex tools to describe them. By offering the right balance of ease of use, performance and industry best practice, ModelFoundry empowers anyone with an iPad to create great models.
