Illustrator of "Blue Blue Sea Finds His Cape" Presents to Third Grade Class

Hayley Mullins, the illustrator of "Blue Blue Sea Finds His Cape," gave a special presentation to a group of third grade students about the book.

Florence, KY, March 11, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Hayley Mullins, illustrator of "Blue Blue Sea Finds His Cape," visited with Mrs. Davis’ class of third grade students at Heritage Academy Christian School in Florence, Kentucky. Mullins, who is a senior at Heritage Academy, showed students her work in the book, explained a bit about Blue Blue Sea and the sport of horse racing and led them in an exercise for drawing the famous equine.

The students were excited by the event and loved the story of a plucky racehorse who found his calling in helping others. Mrs. Davis said, “[the] book was inspiring and appealing.” She also noted that the book sparked the children’s curiosity about the sport of thoroughbred horse racing and the world of horses in general.

Mullins is a self-taught artist, who is gaining a following due to her natural talent for catching a subject in whimsical ways. Upon graduation, the illustrator plans to attend Lipscomb University and study Visual Development and Animation.

Miranda N. Prather, the author, was born in Texas. Her family's moves took her to Mississippi, Kansas, Louisiana, and Kentucky. In Kentucky, Prather attended Kenton Elementary, Twenhofel Middle School and graduated from Simon Kenton High School. During her time in Kentucky, the author took horseback riding lessons and owned another off-track Thoroughbred named Beble.

"Blue Blue Sea Finds His Cape" tells the life story of a blue-collar racehorse who overcame a devastating illness to survive and inspire thousands around the globe who were facing their own struggles. The book features playful writing and delightful pictures form Erlanger, KY, artist Hayley Mullins that bring the tale of Blue Blue Sea to life. Blue Blue Sea was no American Pharoah, but he became a hero just the same.
