)-- Photographer and Designer Linda Mason is turning to the Internet to raise funds for her latest fashion project, the LuLuwrap, a stylish and versatile, couture fashion accessory made with premium quality Silk Chiffon and hand crafted in the USA.
With funding as the first major obstacle to getting any fashion project off the ground, current economic conditions don't make the job any easier. Designers have to become more innovative in their fundraising tactics, and the fashion community has embraced sites like Kickstarter.com. In line with Kickstarter.com guidelines, designers have a set number of days to raise all the funds, or the project receives nothing. Mason’s “the LuLuwrap” has a 30-day fundraising window, from start to finish. If the allotted budget ($28,288 US) isn't raised before April 12th, 2016, all pledges are cancelled and the project will not be funded.

“The LuLuwrap is as much about beauty, versatility and quality, as it is about freedom & empowerment,” says Linda. “I started out using the finest sari fabrics to create our unique, one-of-a-kind LuLuwraps. When friends and family started asking for them, that was one thing, but when strangers started approaching me and I started selling them, I quickly realized I had created something that women could wrap them selves around."
"Now almost 2 years later, the LuLutribe, as we like to call ourselves, have just launched our Kickstarter campaign, 'The LuLuwrap...the Bare Necessity!' Where we are offering our exclusive original fabric designs on the LuLuwrap. We have come to crowdfunding in order to manufacture our first 5,000 pieces, which will allow us to offer our beautiful creations at a price that is affordable."
When asked about why Kickstarter was appealing, Mason noted, "the ability to spread the word quickly online to a lot of people, and keep them updated on the status of the project is invaluable." A wonderful bonus for designers is Kickstarter's merchant partner Amazon.com, which enables each project the convenience of receiving funds from anywhere in the world.
Mason entered the online fundraising pool a little bit at a time. After witnessing the success of 3 of her friends’ Kickstarter campaigns and further research into the phenom, it gave her the idea to put the LuLuwrap into play, "Seeing the success of other fashion projects gave me the courage to put my dream on the line. I'm also certain it'll give me a few more sleepless nights," she joked.
