Celestron Promotes Eric Kopit to Vice President of Product Development

Torrance, CA, March 31, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Celestron, the world’s #1 telescope brand and a leading optics innovator, is pleased to announce the promotion of Eric Kopit to Vice President of Product Development.

Kopit moved from New Jersey to Monterey Bay in 1988 to attend the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC). The focus of his studies was Astrophysics, which included several semesters of independent studies assisting Lick Observatory Astronomers. He completed his studies in 1993 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from UCSC. While completing his studies Kopit also began working in the amateur astronomy telescope industry managing large support centers. This lead to Kopit working in product development where he has been developing product for amateur astronomers for now more than 20 years.

Kopit will be reporting directly to Corey Lee, Celestron’s new Executive Vice President of Marketing, Sales, and Product Development. "Eric’s passion for astronomy has continuously inspired the Celestron Product Development team to not just think outside of the box, but rid ourselves of it all together—there are no limits. As the new VP of Product Development Eric will lead Celestron into the next wave of cutting edge technology and innovation, and I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of his journey,” said Lee.

For over 20 years Kopit has been a part of many key innovations which have helped evolve the way people interact with the night sky. Eric Kopit has been with Celestron as Director of Product Development since 2010. He currently resides in Redondo Beach, CA with his wife Randi.
