Fitness Expert Gives Lesson in Language; Blaine, Bethany Vigilante Release New Book

Dog Ear Publishing reviews a new children’s book aimed at exploring the meaning of language, highlighting the phrase “blowing your top.” The book stars a gym owner and his dog, modeled after the authors’ own dog. It’s the first in a series of books aimed at helping children figure out idioms and the nuances of the English language, one phrase at a time.

Greensboro, NC, April 13, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Everyone knows the feeling of a frustrating day, when little things that otherwise might have been ignored lead to anger. Gym owner Blaine starts to be in a bad mood even before leaving for work, when his dog takes too long to get into the truck to leave. At the gym, someone has left trash by the door, a confident client insults another client, and another client tries to ignore her appointment.

Things continue to go downhill when yet another client questions Blaine’s nutritional advice, and finally he’s had enough – he blows his top. He yells at the client until his anger subsides, and he realizes he owes an apology to her for his outburst. He realizes that holding everything in doesn’t work, and he should share his feelings no matter what they might be. Vivid cartoonlike illustrations by Jamie Woodward help tell the story.

“Blaine Blows His Top” is the first in a series of children’s book titled Hodge Podge, which focus on figurative language and social skills. The goal of the series is to help educate children of all ages, especially those with special needs such as autism, learning disabilities, language deficits and those learning English as a second language. Each book will cover a specific phrase but will also include details about other phrases and words. For details about the series, visit www.HodgePodgeBooks.com.
