Pressure Vessel Manufacturer Cuts Production Time by 80%

Power Service, Inc., shortens lead times and improves design flexibility with newly acquired CNC head-profiling machine.

Casper, WY, April 13, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Power Service, Inc. manufacturers over 2,000 pressure vessels a year. The company acquired a new CNC head-profiling machine in December, 2015 to meet customer needs for shorter lead-times, design flexibility, and exceptional quality. According to Tony Cercy, Power Service President, “We’ve cut 20,000 man hours per year to 2,000 with only one machine to deliver more equipment to our oil and gas customers at a quicker rate.”

The new 6-axis vessel head profiler, manufactured by Müller Opladen, offers speed, quality, and remarkable design flexibility. It is capable of cutting domes from 8” up to 100” in diameter. The machine features a 20° - 160° oscillation torch head with a 380° torch rotation for automatic advance and retraction in any angle position. A laser sensor corrects variation between the cutting torch and shell surface for precision cuts. Thermal cutting processes allow up to 6” wall thickness cuts and workpieces up to 30 tons. Cutting curve data is automatically imported from a 3D CAD system to create the customer’s cutting profile.

This new cutting machine further enriches Power Services CNC fabrication capabilities and confirms the company’s commitment to becoming a “One Stop Solution” for the oil and gas industry. Steve Jackson, Power Service’s Director of Marketing, stated, “We are passionate about and dedicated to continuous improvements that deliver more value for our customers, not only in capability but quality and faster delivery.”
