North Shropshire College Launches Search for New Finance Governor

Oswestry, United Kingdom, April 24, 2016 --(PR.com)-- One of Shropshire’s main colleges has launched a search for a qualified accountant with business experience to join its Board as a volunteer Governor. Experience of the education sector would be beneficial but is not essential.

North Shropshire College (NSC) is governed by a volunteer Board of sixteen which oversees the strategic management of this key community organisation. The College serves over 1,400 full-time and 5,000 part-time students based at campuses across the county at Oswestry, Walford, Shipley and Burford near Tenbury Wells.

The Board aims to be as diverse and as representative of its community as possible, so that individuals can bring their insight, experience and ideas to widen the perspective of the Board overall. Applications are welcome from all ages and cultural backgrounds, from across the county and beyond.

Jackie Doodson, College Principal & Chief Executive, said, "Our Governors hold a key position in overseeing the running of the College and in ensuring my team and I are held to account. This role offers the post-holder a valuable experience in governance."

Gillian Richards, Chair of the Board of Governors, commented, "Being a Governor is interesting and challenging, and we always have to ensure that we have the right skills make-up within the Board so that we provide rigorous oversight of the executive, and ensure that the College continues to progress towards its strategic aims. I very much look forward to meeting candidates for this position and to making the appointment."
