Skinner’s Grocery & Market Introduces Online Grocery with ShopHero

Skinner’s Grocery & Market began offering online grocery shopping today. Customers can shop the entire inventory, including Skinner’s famous fresh meats online and have them delivered to their home the same-day.

“We have been considering starting a delivery service for a couple of years now and it just became much more feasible when we teamed up with ShopHero,” says Brant Brantley, owner of the Longview, Texas grocery store. “We are a small family owned grocery store trying to compete with the large chains, so we must offer something that our competitors do not. Also, I hope this service can benefit the elderly population who find it difficult to go to the store whether they order online themselves or their children who may live out of town order for them. After just one week of promoting this on Facebook we received tremendous feedback and people are very excited. This venture with ShopHero will be a game changer.”

Skinner’s has been around for over 50 years and appreciated that this platform integrates with their existing website, allowing Brantley to leverage his existing investments and relationships. Brantley states, “We looked at other e-commerce providers and were concerned with the co-branding model. We wanted our customers, their shopping habits, and all of that data to remain on our site.”

In addition to the branded website and mobile app, ShopHero also provides personal shoppers who pick and deliver the orders. These shoppers are not employed by Skinner’s, so there was no additional staffing or liability concerns for the store. “It’s a no brainer," says Brantly, "in four weeks they had my entire inventory online, hired and trained local personal shoppers, and helped us market this new service to our customers.”
