Access to HE and Advanced Learner Loans at NSC

Oswestry, United Kingdom, May 07, 2016 --(PR.com)-- North Shropshire College (NSC) has many Access to HE courses available for mature learners, pathways available include Health, Science, Humanities and Land-Based Studies. To do these courses, learners may have to use an Advanced Learner Loan of £3000. The loan is written off when the learner completes a University degree course. Ben Francis, an Access to HE student, has used an Advanced Learner Loan for his studies at NSC.

Ben commented "Before I started my course, I believed I would have to pay to do the course. I spoke to the course coordinator Jill Cawthray, she told me about the Advanced Learner Loan. I applied for the loan online, it was very straight forward and I haven’t had to worry about it since. Without the loan I probably wouldn’t have been able to follow my long-term career plan, with the loan I have completed my Access to HE course and been accepted onto the Paramedicine course at Liverpool John Moores University.

"Doing the Access to HE course has allowed me to develop my skills in essay writing and Harvard Referencing, I was nervous about doing the course because I have been out of education for a few years. Jill and other staff have been really helpful and the facilities and IT are really good. The Access to HE course has completely changed my life; it has allowed me to move on to a course and occupation that will give me more security in my life."

Jill commented "Paramedicine is a fantastic degree for students to progress to from Access to HE Health pathway. Ben is the first NSC Access Health student to get an offer to study Paramedicine, he went through a vigorous interview process and we are really proud he is progressing to his first choice university. The Access to HE course is a great stepping stone for mature learners to change career or try something new."

For more information about Access to HE Courses starting in September, please call Jill Cawthray, Access to HE Coordinator on 01691 688028 or email j.e.cawthray@nsc.ac.uk.
