Local Furnishings Store Gaining Niche Following Amongst Buyers

FineLines Furnishings, local Washington, D.C. home furnishings store, celebrates first year in business.

Fairfax, VA, January 10, 2008 --(PR.com)-- As more and more furniture retailers go out of business, one small furnishings start-up is celebrating its first anniversary this month.

FineLines Furnishings, located in Merrifield, Va., is owned by former Nextel executive Lauren M. Simmons, who opened the store in December, 2006. Her customers have been impressed with the one-of-a-kind and stylish items that she offers at prices that reflect her low overhead costs.

"I started my business because I have a passion for home decorating and decor", Simmons said. "I didn't think the large chain stores and retailers could match my flexibility in identifying and bringing in unique items to market."

FineLines customers are taking note, too. "It’s not like going to any other store. She has great unique things you don’t see anywhere else. And she has really good prices, probably because where she’s located" said Lynne Arnold.

FineLines features furnishings and gifts ranging from traditional items to unique designer furniture and also includes smaller gifts for the home. The store also does special orders from a large group of high-end and designer vendors.

Ms. Simmons, who grew up and has lived in Northern Virginia her whole life, owns FineLines independently, making it a truly locally-owned and operated boutique. "FineLines is one of a kind", she says.
