Documentary Thriller About the Sport of Competitive Endurance Tickling Hits the Big Screen

Story about upcoming motion picture called TICKLED. A documentary thriller that has audiences and critics raving.

Hollywood, CA, May 14, 2016 --(PR.com)-- TickleFilmer and former endurance competitive casting director David Starr appears in a critically acclaimed documentary about the "sport" of tickling. The film is named TICKLED and has appeared at several film festivals worldwide, including the prestigious Sundance Film Festival last January. TICKLED has enjoyed enthusiastic reception by audiences and critics alike. One critic stated that this film is akin to a thriller "where the boogyman is everywhere."

The documentary is directed by David Farrier and Dylan Reeve of New Zealand, and will be theatrically released in the United States nationwide on June 17th and in Canada on June 24th. The film explores the sport of competitive endurance tickling in its many forms. In addition to several other trips down the rabbit hole, the film covers David Starr's experiences in the nightmarish underworld of the sport and documents how he, and several of the competitors were cyberstalked after David Starr protested the player's footage being posted online without their permission.

New Zealand journalist David Farrier, who is famous for his stories of the strange and weird side of life, discovered the "sport" after seeing some tickling footage online and reached out to the organizers of the competitions, and was rebuffled
and cyberstalked himself while he was pursuing the story. Like any good journalist, David Farrier knew that there was a story here - especially when most of the organizers he contacted stated, "there's no story here, now go away," along with making several offensive references such as calling him "a gay kiwi."

David Farrier and his co-director Dylan Reeve went in search of the story behind the tickling. They found David Starr, a former casting agent for the organizers... and he was not afraid to speak out.

David Farrier, Dylan Reeve, and David Starr, along with other members of the cast and crew, including the behind the scenes executives appeared personally at Sundance.

David Starr has toured with the film to several US film festivals such as Sarasota Film Festival, Nashville Film Festival, San Francisco International Film Festival, and Florida Film Festival. Both David Starr and David Farrier jointly appeared at the Canadian Premiere of TICKLED at Hot Docs in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
