3rd Annual Woman Veteran Women Business Conference Features MD Commerce Secretary, R. Michael Gill

Military active duty, veterans, retirees and their spouses convene for a free business conference to start or grow their business.

Baltimore, MD, May 21, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The 3rd Annual Maryland Military and Veteran Women Business Conference will take place on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 8 AM to 3 PM at Morgan State University in the University Student Center. The conference keynote speaker is Secretary R. Michael Gill of the Maryland Department of Commerce. This conference is designed to connect active duty military personnel, transitioning soldiers, military spouses, veterans and emerging entrepreneurs with information and resources to grow their business successfully.

During the event, attendees will experience intensive networking opportunities and workshops on start-up capital, entrepreneurship basics, maximizing certifications, obtaining government contracts and securing capital.

The day includes a luncheon and awards ceremony that recognizes veterans and organizations that support the military with the Roll Call Awards. These awards recognize individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to military, veterans and their families. Nominations and self-nominations are currently being accepted for the Roll Call Awards. A completed nomination form and all supporting materials must be submitted by 5:00 PM on Thursday, June 9, 2016 and can be obtained at www.marylandwomenvets.com. Awards will be presented in the following categories:

Hero Award – Salutes two veterans, business and/or organization that demonstrate extraordinary commitment and service to veterans that makes a significant, life-changing impact on the community.

Woman Veteran of the Year – Pays tribute to a woman, veteran business owner who has demonstrated exemplary military service, community service and support for veterans in the community.

Organization Supporting Women Veteran Entrepreneurs – Celebrates government agencies, non-profits, academic institutions and private industry for expanding opportunities to woman, veteran-owned businesses that go above and beyond the standard.
