Digital Mammography Impacts Throughput, Workflow and Revenues

KLAS delves into the adoption of digital imaging in mammography services and publishes its inaugural Digital Mammography Report to inform healthcare providers about the successes and struggles other healthcare providers have encountered while integrating digital mammography in their hospitals and clinics.

Orem, UT, January 16, 2008 --(PR.com)-- As a result of provider demand for information on user experiences with digital mammography, KLAS publishes its inaugural study on the marketplace from a user standpoint. In this Digital Mammography Report, KLAS investigates the successes and challenges providers have had with incorporating digital mammography into their hospital or clinic.

The research found that although respondents report improved patient throughput and some workflow improvements, not all providers experienced the significant enhancement to overall efficiency and revenues that vendors may promise. However, nearly all providers participating in the study reported improvement in their effectiveness and diagnostic screenings. From a business perspective, the ROI becomes somewhat more difficult to achieve. Overall, study participants believe the investment in digital mammography is worth the effort.

Vendors included in the report are GE, Hologic and Siemens, with preliminary user feedback on Fuji. Visit KLAS’ website www.healthcomputing.com for more information.
