NSC Holds Family Festival

Oswestry, United Kingdom, June 10, 2016 --(PR.com)-- North Shropshire College (NSC) has recently held its annual Family Funday and Football Festival; this year’s event was held in partnership with the Shropshire FA and raised money for the Severn Hospice charity. As well as the football tournament, there were many craft stalls trading and the College’s specialist departments came to allow people to meet and experience exotic creatures from NSC’s Walford Campus and show off the spoon bracelets and coin rings produced by Engineering Students at NSC’s Aspire Campus. The event raised £525 for the Hospice in memory of former lecturer, Geoff Farr. Thanks to all who donated raffle and tombola prizes.

TNS Community Engagement, Bridie Lloyd from Phenzync Fencing and Oswestry Tennis Club attended, giving everyone the opportunity to experience a new sport. The football tournament was won by the Under 8 team Randlay Colts and the Under 10 team NC United; both teams were awarded a trophy and a £250 football kit voucher by the Mayor of Oswestry, Paul Milner.

NSC Assistant Principal, Sara Shelston, commented "Now well-established Family Funday at the Oswestry Campus, we had a fantastic day in the glorious sunshine: live music, fantastic football playing, stalls and food. A huge thanks to Mick Murphy at Shropshire FA and all of his crew and everyone who contributed to its success this year."
