Why Aren’t LA Businesses and Organizations Taking Advantage of the State’s Water Rebate Program?

Urimat Waterfree is working with LA area businesses of all sizes to help them save water. One URIMAT urinal saves up to 40,000 gallons of water per year.

Los Angeles, CA, June 18, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Under pressure to conserve water and meet the State’s mandated water reduction quotas, LA area restaurants, nonprofits, schools, colleges, shopping centers, hotels, etc., are slow to take advantage of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power’s (LADWP) water rebates. For example, to encourage more businesses to conserve water, the LADWP offers a $500 water rebate (per urinal) to retrofit from water urinals to waterfree. One waterfree urinal saves up to 40,000 gallons of water per urinal per year. So, why is it that these incentive programs are not being used to their fullest?

“Many businesses simply aren’t aware that there are great rebates available to switch to water savings technologies. We are working with companies and organizations of all sizes - restaurants, offices, schools, hotels - to help them make the switch from water urinals to URIMAT. Our clients are not only saving water and reducing water costs, they are also reducing maintenance and cleaning costs,” states Dr. Tamara Heimberg, owner of Urimat Waterfree, the URIMAT U.S. distributor. “There are no more valves to be repaired or batteries for sensors to be replaced and, no more leaks. In addition, it is much faster to clean a URIMAT urinal. It’s really a trouble-free system that comes with many cost-saving benefits,” Heimberg adds.

California’s water levels are at an all-time low, according to the state’s water resources control board. Nevertheless, approximately 20% of fresh drinking water is flushed down the drain. “I think it’s very important to make changes to conserve water. There’s no reason to be wasting fresh drinking water if we have ways to save it. And, with generous water rebates available, switching to waterfree urinals is an easy way to start conserving water now, ” Heimberg adds.
