)-- Face-Up Doll Artist Brenda Mize, of Eyes of Texas Dolls, was thrilled to find out that her entry ('Little Darling in Violet') was announced as a winner in the 2016 DOLLS Award of Excellence Industry's Choice Awards. This took place at the recent International Doll & Teddy Show held in Ashville, NC. It was held over the June 11th weekend.
This collectible doll was categorized within the "Doll Face-Up/Repaint category. The Industry's Choice Awards (also called the Diamond Awards) are voted on by a panel of esteemed experts and artists in the international doll sector. As quoted by DOLLS Magazine, "Each entry is evaluated for overall aesthetic appeal, excellence in concept, design, and execution; as well as quality of workmanship and materials used."
'Little Darling in Violet' has hand-painted violet eyes and was handmade from a doll mold from the world famous doll artist Dianna Effner. The face sculpt used was the Little Darling mold.
She wears a handmade full-length dress made from dupioni silk in majestic purple. Both the sleeves and skirt are edged in purple plum pleated satin ribbon trim. Each row of pleated trim on her dress is adorned with white Victorian lace that has been embellished with Swarovski AB (Aurora Borealis) crystal flat back crystals, white Swarovski pearls, and purple pearls interspersed throughout. In addition, tiny crystal Swarovski faceted crystals are strategically placed throughout the white Victorian lace backed by an iridescent pearl cup sequin.
This collectible doll wears a hand-beaded necklace with an iridescent snakeskin oval cabochon surrounded by amethyst iris seed beads. The pendant hangs from a faux diamond encrusted chain. Little Darling in Violet also wears a pair of white Swarovski pearl earrings.
All winners, including 'Little Darling in Violet', will now go on to also be the nominees for the 2016 DOLLS Award of Excellence Public's Choice Awards. These winners are voted on by the readers of DOLLS and Haute Doll magazines and the voting will take place during the summer months.
