LinguaTV Awarded with the Comenius EduMedia Prize 2016

European Educational Award for digital German courses A1-C1 (Daf/DaZ), specially designed for refugees, teachers and volunteer teachers.

Berlin, Germany, July 03, 2016 --(PR.com)-- On 26th June 2016 the renowned Gesellschaft für Pädagogik, Information und Medien e.V. (Organisation for Education, Information and Media) distributed awards to digitally-based educational media products with excellent standards of design, content and pedagogy under the umbrella title of “Digital Innovation in Europe.” LinguaTV’s specially adapted German-teaching programme for refugees and their teachers was awarded the coveted EduMedia Prize in the category of “Educational Multi-media Products.”

LinguaTV offers a total of 15 different German courses of all levels from Beginners (A1) to Advanced (C1). The flexible server-based combination of attractive teaching materials such as videos with interactive exercises and tests together with the potential to use the platform irrespective of time and place, enables language-learners to learn all the necessary competences of listening, speaking, reading and writing along with pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar in a quick, easy and flexible way.

The use of videos provides a realistic presentation of business and daily life and communicates relevant knowledge of the language via active participation in dialogues recorded by native-speakers.

The video-based lessons teach not only the German language, but also examples of typical cultural features such as shaking hands, how women and men greet one another, a visit to the doctor, an appointment with the local authorities, etc.) In addition, topics such as geography, politics, history, culture, music and so on are also covered.

The content of the German courses is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and also covers the integration materials recommended by the BAMF (The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees) curriculum. In addition to the 10 user-languages already provided, the teaching platform was also specially translated for the benefit of the majority of the refugees into (high) Arabic.

Already in the past LinguaTV has been recognised with different awards for its content, concept and methods. Sandra Gasber, CEO of LinguaTV GmbH, who represented the Berlin-based language platform this year, is very proud of this award. She commented, “We are delighted that our commitment to supporting the refugees and the contribution of our innovative, digital teaching materials has been honoured. For us, our customers and partners, it is a great confirmation that we are providing a very high quality teaching product that significantly contributes to the learner’s success.”

The Comenius Award is the oldest German and European educational award for outstanding educational multi-media products. The prize is awarded annually for outstanding European educational media by a jury consisting of researchers, experts and educationists from eight European countries. All 165 products submitted must fulfil stringent educational and scientific demands and undergo and extensive examination. For this reason the LinguaTV Team was especially delighted to receive the Comenius EduMedia Award.
