Veggie Burger Dominates Local Meat Eating Burgerfest, 1st Place Winner, Disrupts Meat Industry, to Build No-Kill Centers for the Soho Project Animal Rights Organization

Veggie Burger Wins 1st Place in 38th Year Annual Burgerfest! At Highly Competitive Meat Eating Burgerfest- Avenue29 Foods “Sunset Burger” Wins, Pisses Off Beef Vendors

Buffalo, NY, July 22, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Veggie burger kills meat-competitors, not animals. This meatless madness is dominating and disrupting the meat and burger industry as we know it, and the company up to these flavorful vegan & vegetarian creations, Avenue29 Foods, has only just begun.

Presenters of the Yelp! Best Burger Award on Saturday July 16, 2016 at the 38th Annual Burgerfest in Hamburg, NY, announced the winner around 4:30pm, after tasting nearly 40 different burgers at the famous and traditional meat-burger festival. The only veggie burger there, took the competitors by storm. Nick Preston, Chef and Founder of Avenue29 Foods, and animal rights organization, The Soho Project, created the winning Sunset Burger. He thought up the recipe just 4 days prior to the event, and didn’t even finish the signature sauces until 4am the night before. But his 90 minutes of sleep ended up being well worth it for the award his 2nd year company was about to receive.

“This is crazy! I think it was the 5th person to come to our booth, ended up being the Yelp! Judges. I entered the contest having no clue what order I was even putting my ingredients in to make the burger. We never made the burger before; it was like we were on day 1 all over again. I was losing my head, and before I knew it, I was on the stage accepting the best burger award. I definitely got a little choked up, I mean, this is my heart and soul; promoting animal rights through my food is the greatest gift I was ever blessed with. And this award was so symbolic to me, that every lost hour of sleep and exhausting 20-hour day for the past year, was always worth it,” says Nick.

The company got started last summer in the Buffalo market, at Canalside, and became quickly known for their famous and healthy Quinoa Bowls. Originally known only by “The Soho Project” and their “Cooking For A Cause” promotion, after a year of positive feedback and 35 events strong, the food business expanded into Avenue29 Foods. The cause-worthy company is now working on bottling their signature sauces, and rolling out corporate sponsorship packages to fund their social endeavor to build no-kill shelters for animals in need. The winning burger was compiled of a locally baked whole wheat Costanzo’s roll, loaded with freshly made on-site guacamole, crisp romaine lettuce, a homemade mango salsa, jalapenos, and two signature dressings; house made spicy ketchup and a chipotle aioli. Event goers got to pick their veggie burger option; black bean, spicy mushroom, beet or spinach patty. Local veteran and vegan company, Go Veggies, provided the veggie burgers.
