Distance Education Pioneer EDUKAN Partners with Canvas LMS for All 2016 Fall Courses

Award-winning EDUKAN has chosen Canvas for its next generation, consortium-wide learning management system (LMS) to meet the needs of today’s online student.

Great Bend, KS, August 02, 2016 --(PR.com)-- EDUKAN, leader in distance education for college students since 1998, has selected the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) by Instructure, a cloud-based, open-source LMS as the consortium’s platform for course management.

Canvas was selected after a comprehensive evaluation of best-in-class learning management options available, keeping a focus on the needs of today’s college student to be mobile accessible, collaborative, and user-friendly; while offering the faculty a simple architecture for course content creation and delivery.

“The move to Canvas represents an opportunity for EDUKAN to continue to provide the best possible learning experience for our online students using leading edge resources,” said Esther Lahargoue, EDUKAN’s Chief Executive Officer. “The easy to navigate structure underscores our criteria that technology should blend into the background for the online learner to allow the sole focus to remain on knowledge transfer and acquisition.

Conversion to the new LMS has begun with full transition completion targeted for all Fall 2016 courses. The on-time project implementation and seamless roll-out is a testament to the efforts of the EDUKAN staff and faculty, as well as the Canvas project team.

“We’re glad that Canvas proved to be the best fit for one of the early pioneers in distance education,” said Jared Stein, vice president, Canvas Higher Education. “EDUKAN has delivered leading edge tools from embedded learning materials to online proctoring - for many years. We’re excited that, through our partnership, EDUKAN students will continue to have access to the high quality digital learning tools.”

EDUKAN’s distance education students will also benefit from the broad range of educational tools and resources provided by Canvas which are accessible via desktops, laptops and mobile devices, making online learning that much more appealing as an option to achieve their educational goals.
