Salt Lake City, UT, August 13, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Four songs by the New Age Music Artist Albedo have just been nominated for awards by the Utah Music Awards in two categories. The song "Mercury, the Winged Messenger" from the album "The Planets" was nominated for Best Instrumental Cover. The songs "Cassini," "Near Shoemaker and Hayabusa," and "Messenger," all three from the album "Space Probes," were all nominated for Best New Age Song. Only five songs are nominated in each category.

The awards ceremony will be held in Provo, Utah on September 17th at the Covey Center for the Arts. Tickets for the event are now on sale and can be purchased online via the Utah Music Awards website.

The album “Space Probes” is Albedo's 10th studio album, which is completely dedicated to robotic spacecraft. It contains musical interpretations of select space probes of achievement. Unmanned robotic spacecraft that explored astronomical objects in our solar system other than earth, and were the first successful flyby, orbiter, lander, rover or sample return missions. Voyager 2, Galileo, Cassini, etc. The music itself is a mixture of live instruments, synthetics, plus professional orchestra and choir samples.

The album “The Planets” is Albedo's 11th studio album. It is a new age arrangement of the classical work The Planets, Op. 32, composed by Gustav Holst. It contains acoustic instruments mixed with synthetics and orchestral samples. The Violin solos on the album are played by Kelly Richardson, and the woodwind solos are played by Doug Clyde.

The musical style of both albums is considered Space Music, which is a sub-genre of New Age music. The sound is similar to the musical artists Mannheim Steamroller, Vangelis and Isao Tomita.

Albedo is a new age music artist who also writes in the classical and soundtrack genres. Since being formed in January of 2002, 11 studio albums have been officially released including the two albums previously mentioned. Other recent albums include a new age cover album of music from Final Fantasy VI called “Magitek,” a new age Christmas album, a classical album called “Symphony No. 1,” and a video game soundtrack called “Forgotten Lands,” which was nominated for Best Soundtrack Album by the 12th Annual Independent Music Awards (The IMAs). “The Battle of Shiloh,” composed by Kelly Richardson, from Albedo's "Digital Fingers" album was performed at Carnegie Hall in April of 2011.
