Tangible IP Announces Completed Sale of Semiconductor Patent Portfolio

Seattle, WA, August 31, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Tangible IP, LLC, an international patent brokerage and Intellectual Property advisory firm headquartered in Seattle, with offices in San Francisco and Montreal, announced that it had successfully brokered the sale of the patent portfolio of ANA SEMICONDUCTOR comprising of thirteen US issued patents and the brainchild of the late Dr. Sangbeom Park. The identity of the buyer and the financials of the agreement were not disclosed.

After a successful career both as an academic and with Rockwell Semiconductor, Dr. Park embarked on a long journey to continue his research in a related field and built along the way a rich portfolio of patents around various types of memory (DRAM, SRAM) and wireless (Bluetooth) chips. After the inventor passed away, his estate was subsequently referred to and contacted Tangible IP to help analyze the portfolio and reach out to buyers.

“When my husband passed away, we did not fully realize the extent of the technical contributions he had made to his field and how his patents reflected his innovative spirit,” said Mrs. Kieun Park, wife of the inventor. “We also did not know anyone who could help us monetize this patent portfolio. We then talked to the firm that had prosecuted my husband’s patents and they recommended we retain Tangible IP based on their excellent track record and willingness to work with small inventors. We worked with Louis Carbonneau and his team throughout the whole process and we always felt we were in good hands. Tangible IP produced very high-quality detailed materials to better illustrate the relevance of my husband’s inventions and they went above and beyond in reaching out to potential buyers for the assets, all the way to closing the deal for us. We feel extremely fortunate that we had them as our partners during this complex endeavor.”

“Selling semiconductor patents is not an easy task and this one was no exception,” said Louis Carbonneau, Founder and CEO of Tangible IP. “Given the nature of the technology, it is extremely difficult to show the value of patents in that space unless you undertake very expensive reverse engineering. So we naturally feel very gratified that we were able to find a good home for this portfolio and help Mrs. Park and her family in getting value out of the meaningful contributions that Dr. Park made years back but did not have the opportunity to pursue completely before his passing. We believe his patents to be the cornerstone of several improvements to chip designs and trust that the industry will now be able to better access those going forward,” said Carbonneau.

Tangible IP, LLC specializes in selling high-quality unencumbered patents and has now brokered the sale of over 2000 patent assets since its inception and has returned tens of millions of dollars back to inventors, shareholders and patent owners.
