Green Comes to Plymouth… Tracy Chevrolet-Cadillac Introduces "Green" Initiatives in 2008

Plymouth, MA, January 22, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Conversations including “green” and “Plymouth” usually involve golf courses like Waverley Oaks or Pine Hills or the lush forests of Myles Standish Park. In 2008, Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac might be at the center of those discussions as part of General Motors and Chevrolet’s green initiatives.

“The perception of General Motors and Chevrolet is of big, gas-guzzling, low mileage trucks, SUVs and larger sedans,” said Jeff Tracy, president of Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac. “The reality is GM and Chevy are at the forefront of the movement to make vehicles more fuel efficient and, to coin a popular phrase, ‘greener’.”

Part of that green initiative is carrying more fuel-efficient automobiles. Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac presently carries several Chevy models that get more than 30 mpg—Aveo, Cobalt and Malibu—or upper 20 mpg—Impala, Monte Carlo. .
Besides offering automobiles that get better mileage, General Motors and Chevrolet is using what’s called active fuel management technology to improve the efficiency of many of its 2008 vehicles. Without the driver doing a thing, this innovative technology deactivates half of the cylinders of an engine in situations where extra power is not needed—like when you’re cruising down the highway. This has dramatically improved the performance and fuel efficiency of the Suburban, Tahoe, Impala and other Chevy models with V6 and V8 engines.

The crown jewel of Chevy’s green initiatives is the 2008 Tahoe Hybrid, winner of Green Car Journal’s “2008 Green Car of the Year.” The Tahoe Hybrid achieves 50 percent better fuel economy than a Tahoe powered by a standard 5.3-liter V-8. That translates to a 21-mpg city fuel efficiency rating, the same as a four-cylinder Toyota Camry sedan.

“It’s truly amazing the advances we’ve made in technology over the years. The real challenge now is keeping up with the demand to make these newer, more efficient vehicles available,” said Tracy.

The 2008 Chevy Tahoe Hybrid is available by special order only and a limited quantity is available. For more information, you can call Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac at (508) 830-0101.
